Drywall construction in a large-scale project
As part of the new construction of the Swiss Life Arena, extensive gypsum and drywall systems were used in the interior fittings. The requirements included complex geometries, high fire protection requirements, moisture protection in wet zones and load-bearing constructions with large spans.
Drywall solutions and special design features
In the office areas, facing shells with circular window openings were executed. The continuous design of the cladding enabled a homogeneous surface as well as precise design of the round cut-outs – a clear advantage in terms of dimensional accuracy and surface quality.
In corridors and publicly accessible areas, fire protection ceilings made of special panels were used, designed for increased safety requirements. Moisture-resistant partition wall systems were used in team showers and visitor toilets, suitable for heavy use.
A special structural task was the accessible ceiling on the 4th floor. Due to the large spans, this was implemented with a lightweight steel construction system that ensures both load-bearing capacity and accessibility.
Drywall construction as a high-performance building system
The project shows how drywall systems from Rigips take on load-bearing functions in complex large-scale buildings. Fire protection, moisture resistance, geometryFlexibility and load-bearing capacity were systemically combined and implemented on a project-specific basis. Drywall construction is therefore an integral part of the functional and economical construction method of modern large-scale projects.
