Carnal Hall - Le Rosey

Carnal Hall is an architectural statement on the campus of Le Rosey, characterized by its iconic dome and innovative design. The building strengthens cultural life as well as academic excellence and sets a modern accent within one of the most renowned institutions in Switzerland.

Carnal Hall is a contemporary cultural and educational centre at Institut Le Rosey, which combines a concert hall, study spaces and art studios under a characteristic dome. Designed by Bernard Tschumi Architects, it complements the historic campus with modern architecture and state-of-the-art spaces for teaching and performances.

Certified fire protection seamlessly integrated into the architecture

The building comprises over 470 m² of CONTRAFLAM ® fire protection glazing and enables safe traffic routes via partition walls, stairwells, fire doors and meeting areas, with full transparency in the cultural and educational zones.

High clarity and long-term optical quality for bright, open spaces

Fire-resistant glass creates bright, open spaces by allowing plenty of daylight while providing protection. The highly UV-resistant glass keeps interiors alive for a long time, an important advantage for architects who depend on consistent material quality in high-traffic areas.

Large-format special glazing for architectural freedom

With glass formats ranging from 1,800 × 3,800 mm, the solution meets the increasing demand for large-scale, floor-to-ceiling glazing without joints or intermediate frames. The large dimensions support ambitious designs and offer end-to-end transparency as well as tested safety in one solution.

Sustainability features

The Carnal Hall consistently focuses on sustainable architecture. A concept deliberately developed without air conditioning in combination with natural and mechanical ventilation significantly reduces energy requirements. The 900-seat concert hall is made of recycled OSBHolz and thus reduces the use of materials. The concept is complemented by a deep, reflective metal dome that reduces daytime heating, contributes to passive temperature regulation and blends harmoniously into the landscape.
